This invasive plant has taken over large stretches of the island's riverbanks, especially near Castletown and Glen Maye.
It is also known as "Kiss-me-on-the-mountain", and originates in the Himalayas.

The Manx name for this flower is "Balsym Injinagh", which means "Indian Balsam".
