One of the many plants known as "woundwort", this plant was once used for many medicinal purposes.

Kidney vetch prefers to grow on dry, chalky soil and is very common in the south of England. It can be found growing on the coast of the island, especially at Scarlett point.

The Manx name for this flower is "Cass yn eayn", which means "lamb's foot".
