A relatively uncommon weed on the island, it can be found on Bradda Head and is sometimes found on field margins.
Burdock is edible and is used both in food and drink, particularly its roots.

The invention of velcro was inspired by this plant, as its seeds stick to the fur of animals using the same principle.

The Manx name for this flower is "boaghan-doa".
