Latin Name:

Buddleja davidii

Manx Name:

Thammag y foillycan

Season:

June - September

Locations where this species is found:
Archallagan, Chibbanagh, Silverburn River

Often known as 'butterfly bush', this plant is particularly attractive to butterflies.

Buddleia is native to China and was introduced to Britain in the 1890s. Despite this, it is a surprisingly common sight in the Manx countryside, probably due to its hardy nature and ability to grow with very little soil.

The Manx name for this flower is "Thammag y foillycan", which means "bush of butterflies".
