Sea Beet
Sea Beet is a common sight on the island's coast. Its shiny, waxy leaves make it easily identified and its flowers have a pleasant honey-like scent.
This plant is edible and is the ancestor of many cultivated forms of beet such as beetroot and sugar beet. It is sometimes known as "wild spinach" as it has similar properties when used as a vegetable.
The Manx name for this plant is "Beetys marrey".
