Native to the British Isles, this plant is nonetheless a rare sight in the wild on the Isle of Man. Common toadflax often emerges when ground is disturbed, so it is more often seen near roads or cultivated land.
In herbal medicine, this plant was used in a tea as a laxative and to treat a wide variety of illnesses.
The Manx name for this plant is "Beayoo-lieen".
