Greater Spearwort
This rare plant is a very large member of the buttercup family, and is usually found growing in wet ground. Its pointed spear-like leaves explain its name and distinguish it from other buttercups.
Like all buttercups, Greater Spearwort is poisonous and should not be eaten.
This rare flower is a protected species under Manx law, so it is an offense to damage it.
The Manx name for this flower is "Lossyr lheeannagh vooar", which means "Large meadow flame".
