This member of the buttercup family is found in marshy ground and is distinct from other buttercups by its small, spear-like leaves.

Common on the island and much smaller than the related Greater Spearwort, this plant is poisonous (as are all members of the buttercup family).

Spearwort can be found all over the island, but it is particularly common in the Ballaugh Curraghs.
