Maughold is said to receive more sunlight than the rest of the island, thanks to the mountains breaking up the clouds. Many coastal and grassland wildflowers grow here, including yarrow, bluebells and field poppies.
Port Mooar is a particularly good habitat for coastal plants, featuring some of the island's less common species such as Sea Kale and Smith's Pepperwort along with a large bed of Common Reeds: an uncommon sight on the island.
