Pink Sorrel is native to South America, but can now be found throughout the world, except for the coldest places.

Like other sorrel plants, pink sorrel is edible but contains oxalic acid so should not be consumed in large quantities.

The Manx name for this flower is "Shamsag ghlioonagh", which means "knotted sorrel".
