This invasive plant grows in stagnant and slow-moving water and has begun to spread in many parts of the island, though there have been some efforts made to control it.

Due to its tendency to become invasive, the sale of this plant was banned in the UK in 2014.

This plant is also known as "swamp stonecrop" and has distinctive fleshy succulent-like leaves.
