Native to New Zealand, this invasive plant has spread extensively in Archallagan Plantation and can also be found at South Barrule. Its spiky burs can easily be picked up in clothing and animal fur, allowing it to spread over long distances.

The Manx name for this flower is "Lus yn ollan", which means "Plant of wool".
