Silverdale Glen follows the course of the Silverburn River and offer a damp, shady habitat for many wildflowers.

Winter heliotrope is particularly common here and snowdrops can be found growing along the river bank from January to April.

Silverdale Glen is also a habitat for liverworts; an interesting sight when they are sporing.
