Also known as “Kingcup”, these relatively uncommon flowers are found in wet, marshy areas and are considered to be one of the oldest native plants in the British isles.
Outside Ballaglass Glen, Marsh Marigolds can also be found at Port Soderick and the Ballannette Nature Reserve in Baldrine.
Flowers known as “Marigold” or “Mary’s gold” were used as an Easter tribute to the Virgin Mary in medieval churches.
